You have to have a resource to offer (not sell). It has to be something original or hard to find, and may be info (know-how), news (events, state-of-the-art), software, images, movies, sound or program sources, and it must be free for the taking. If you don't have a message, don't even bother to read beyond this point: "For every offer there must be a demand". And there is no demand on the Web for messageless presences. |
Environment |
All the Web development I do takes place under Windows 95. This is just a matter of convenience, since I'm sure you can find all the tools here described for other Operating Systems, namely Windows NT, and Linux. Nevertheless, I feel that there is a much wider choice of graphics, sound, video and programming tools for Windows (95 & NT) for free or at a very low price. |

Choices |
There are quite a few filters that generate HTML from
other formats.
I write HTML directly and recommend it for small amounts of info.
This can be done using the Operating System's text editor
(vi under Unix, Notepad under Windows, etc.
If you don't like Notepad, Elwin is very good text editor for Windows. Currently I use POV-ray 3.0 internal editor because I can have a lot of HTML files accessible from the top tabs along with the pov files.
POV-ray is the tool I use for sophisticated graphic production, and it
does animation too (more about this soon).
I believe it's the best, and it's free. The next step, testing, should be done with more than one browser. |

Writing HTML
You're on your own for now, but I'll gather some info and post it in the future. Testing The links are updated periodically. |
